Sex, Sin and Slutshaming

Monday 10th May 2021 7pm
Days
Hours
Minutes
Seconds

Two of the biggest sources of arguments in relationships are sex, and money.

These are two of the areas were we are most repressed, feel most shame and so are least likely to discuss issues.

Yet, the attitudes underlying that shame touches the heart of the difficulties we have in making relationships work. So if we don’t confront these issues, we are doomed to make the same relationship mistakes over and over again.

This is the time in our history when so much of the views that have repressed and trapped minorities are being challenged and overturned.

Let’s discuss so that we can free ourselves from the traps made by past generations.

This is an online Meetup. It will be held on Zoom.

Winning The Game of Love

Days
Hours
Minutes

There’s always some story of someone who seemingly without any advantage manages to rise to the top against all the odds.

Likewise there’s people who seem to have every advantage and they underperform.

Every game starts with resources, limitations and an agreement of how we win.

The fun of the game is in how creatively we can use the resources we have most effectively to win.

Life and love are the ultimate games. We all have the possibility of having the love we want, but to get it means we have to use the resources we have available effectively.

If we don’t have the life or relationships we want, it’s because we are not using the resources we have most effectively.

Let’s discuss and find some clarity on how we can better use the resources we have.

This is an online Meetup. It will be held on Zoom.

What is it we are all striving for in the mythical Happy Ever After?

I believe it is what I call an Artisanal Relationship.

We live in a commoditised world where almost everything is mass-produced. Yet, in a world of standardisation, there’s a craving for the unique work of a master craftsperson.

Tolstoy said that every happy family was alike, but every unhappy family was unhappy in it’s own way.

I disagree, I think with relationships, each happy couple creates the structure and climate that works for them.

Let’s talk about how you can create your Artisanal Relationship.

What gives meaning to your life?

What is the core value or belief that you would fight for? The hill you are willing to die on.

When we are uncertain. When we aren’t committed to a certain value or outcome, we have to keep making decisions.

It makes life harder and we stay stuck longer.

For me, there are 5 Commitments we have to make…

The 5 Commitments That Make Relationships Simpler

The 12 Stage Journey In The Quest For Love

Joseph Campbell wrote about the Hero’s Journey years ago. The Hero’s Journey was his observation that all great stories followed the same basic plot structure.

Star Wars, The Matrix, The Lion King, Rocky and the story of The Buddha and Jesus are all very different in their form, but all follow the same basic structure.

I believe that in much the same way each of us are on an individual quest to find love on a universal journey. A quest that has many challenges, pitfalls and disappointments along the way. For some background I wrote some ideas here;

There are many communities in the dating world that exist on the premise that you have to use techniques and play games to win the girl or guy.

Esther Perel argues in her book Mating in Captivity that emotional intimacy comes at the cost of desire.

Who Are You? How To Develop Self Awareness And Self Acceptance

Monday 17th August 2020 7pm BST

Before we can connect and relate to someone else, we have to connect to ourself.

Many dating and relationship problems are amplified versions of an inner conflict we have internally.

Until we know who we are, what we want and how we operate best, we will struggle to know who the right partner for us is and the relationship in which we will thrive.

For this Meetup, there is some preparation. If you can bring some insight to yourself, it will mean we can go further in the discussion.
